Meet the Governors

Mrs W Harvey -    Chair of Governors,

Revd. L. Hilliard - Vice Chair of Governors

Hello I am the Vice Chair of Governors and the Vicar of the Church linked to the school.  I have been in Nelson 8 years.  Prior to that I worked in a church in Hull.  Before training for ministry in Durham I lived in Surrey and worked as an engineer developing instrumentation for the oil and pharmaceutical industries.  My first degree was in physics and I am still keen on astronomy.  My biggest leisure interests are hill walking and travelling.  I am passionate about the opportunities in church schools to provide excellent all round education.

Mrs K Ellidge - Headteacher

I am proud to be the Headteacher of St Philip's.    I have been at St Philip's since August 2003 and have seen may changes during my time here.   I currently live in Burnley and I am married with 2 adult sons and 1 amazing grandson who enjoys listening to stories with Granny!   I am an avid reader and read a variety of materials some to support school improvement and some simply for pleasure.   I am a Burnley Football Club season ticket holder and have proudly watched the clarets in the days of the old first division to the current premier league.  I am passionate about sport and the benefits it brings to young people - working in a team,  challenging yourself and being competitive.  I am also a Governor at a school in Barnoldswick.

Mrs. J. Hartley - School Staff Governor

I am the School Staff Governor and have been so for the last 10 years.  I was born in Nelson and currently live in Colne and with the exception of 5 years in France have lived in Pendle all my life.  My daughter went to primary school/high school/college in Pendle and I have a keen interest in local education and the local environment.

Mr. H Simpson - Chair of Resources

I was born in Kent but have lived in Barrowford since 1979 and been involved with a number of community organisations, including Pennine Community Credit Union (PCCU) and Pendle Heritage Centre.  I was a local government officer with Burnley Borough Council almost all my working life but I am now retired.

I was a Governor for many years at my son's school Edge End Secondary School.  Between 2008 and 2015 I worked for Lancashire County Council, Governor Services, supporting nursery, primary and secondary school governing bodies in Burnley and Pendle.

I am passionate about education's role in tackling disadvantage and discrimination and about every child realising their full potential.
